The fountain is the centerpiece of the rose garden overlooked by the main porch. This is a literary rose garden in which all roses are named after authors and characters.
The southwest yard is a sunny open space bordered by a berm planted in shrubs and perennials.
West of the house, in a Zen-like setting, is the world's only "weeping persimmon," one of many water features throughout the property.
The Whimsy Garden in the northwest features unusual garden ornaments, such as the Tree Faces.
The Crane Pool northeast of the house has a marble frog from China spitting water in the direction of two brass cranes, who are clearly not intimidated
The antiqued pavilion is the focus of the southeast Sculpture Garden of Greco-Roman statuary.
Although the Ruddick-Nugent House is a Columbus bed and breakfast, nearby is a thriving and inspiring art community. The Brown County Art Colony (see photos at About Columbus > Things To Do) attracts artists from all over the region to inspire creativity and imagination.
